Today's unexpected and sudden closure and deletion of the Japan Photography Mailing List, which I co-owned, has prompted me to revive my 'long overdue for an update' blog. Over the past year, the list has grown to 250 members, and we've all seen some really interesting activities come out of it: informal workshops on developing black and white photography, photography outings, and semi-regular photo critiques are just a few examples. New friendships have been founded and collaborations have taken place. I know I have certainly gotten a lot out of it over that time, and have been really pleased to have had the opportunity to meet so many interesting photographers and photography enthusiasts in Japan. So I am now actively working behind the scenes with some of previous list members to provide a new forum for the community and will provide updates as soon as we have some concrete information.
