Russian photojournalist from the 1930s, Dmitri Debabov, travelled extensively through the former Soviet Union, and left a legacy of magnificent Arctic photography (via Coudal).

Photographs of textism's very frisky Weimaraner in the snow.

Facial piercings in Shibuya from hunkabutta.

When I was visiting Johannesburg in August 2002, I was fortunate to pick up a copy of this stunning book by photographer, Craig Fraser. Shack Chic is a documentary of the homes of people living in Cape Town's shacklands, captured in natural light.

It is about the dignity to be found in the dusty streets of South Africa's shack-lands. While these people obviously don't take pleasure in the poverty they live in, they stand proud in the face of it.
